Alden Shoe Co. was founded in 1884 in Massachusetts. Alden is a family owned business with a history that now spans four generations of shoemakers. They are the acknowledged leader in orthopedic shoes designs. Their research and development of orthopedic product has contributed greatly to the comfort and fit of Alden’s traditional footwear. Steel shanks support the arches; a layer of natural cork lies beneath the leather insoles; and brass tacks secure the heels.
Alden invented the tassel loafer in 1948 and watched it evolve into a standard for American footwear. Their shoes have been favored by at least three American presidents.
Genuine Shell Cordovan is still produced in a centuries-old method of pure vegetable tannage and finishing.
